THE BANDAGED PLACE
Created for expressive, contemporary, ballet-fusion dance within a theatre production, 'the bandaged place' captures the tumultuous journey of an injured dancer struggling between temptation and safety at the hands of an ex-lover.
The dancer utilizes the love of his daughter and grandmother to remind himself what is truly important and what he is powerfully capable of.
The Bandaged Place.

GREED ANNIHILATES - AN OPIN REMIX
MOWRI's remixed take on Opin's 'For Now, Yellow'. Opin, an indie rock band from Richmond Virginia, gave MOWRI plenty of piano, synthesizer, guitar and a few vocal samples to work with - adding his percussive, experimental touch.

‘PREVENT YOUR CHOKE’
A mix of hip hop, electronic, experimental rock and punk, PREVENT YOUR CHOKE is an anthem against making yourself smaller and easier for others to swallow, ingest, and accept.
Starting off with a description of the "SUPER PREDATOR" theory by John J. DiIulio Jr., a political scientist that aided in coining the term, now more so super predator myth; a theory in criminology that became popular in the 1990s in the United States, positing that there are some impulsive juvenile criminals who are willing to commit violent crimes without remorse. This theory and term was undoubtedly created for Black, Brown, and Indigenous People of Color, especially black men, to demonize and criminalize and continues to persist today.
This track speaks out against blind racism, hateful and demonizing stereotypes, ignorant judgement, and the general feeling of being isolated and ostracized as a person of color, as well as relishing in our power and unapologetic beauty.
This piece was originally created for the short dance film ' WILD: ACT 1 ' by THE BLACK IRIS PROJECT, a premier ballet collaborative that champions new Black-centric works and arts education, released earlier in 2021.
